1 SCOPE
1.1 This Standard establishes requirements for door closers intended for use with swinging doors in fire separations and on exit doors.NOTE: Tests in this Standard are performed under laboratory conditions. In actual usage, results may vary because of installation, maintenance and environmental conditions.
1.2 This Standard does not cover door closers equipped with hold-open features.
1.3 This Standard does not cover spring hinges.
1.4 The door closers covered by this Standard are intended for installation in accordance with NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives.
1.5 The door closers covered by this Standard are intended for installation on interior doors and for interior mounting on exterior doors.
1.6 The applicability of data from this Standard to a product in actual use is dependent on test specimens being representative of that product.
